The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) is an academic unit within the Faculty of Science and Technology. Our aim is to offer relevant, up-to-date, research-informed and research-led computing and information systems education, at a time and place convenient for students. SCIS faculty members integrate research in distance education technology with course development and delivery. Our students' learning experiences and feedback as well as industry need are an integral part of course development and revision.

The School of Computing and Information Systems offers both undergraduate and graduate programs:

SCIS courses also contribute towards the 4-year BA Information Systems major and the 3-year BA Information Systems concentration.

The SCIS department is home to a number of world class researchers focusing on various aspects of computing and information systems. With a number of federal, provincial and industry grants, including NSERC Discovery Grants, Canada Research Chair, NSERC/iCORE Industrial Research Chair and Alberta Ingenuity New Faculty Award, our faculty members provide excellent opportunities for capable students to participate in international projects such as the European Commission project and industry partnerships (e.g. Xerox Canada Ltd, Lyryx Learning and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.).
