SCIS Graduate Student, David Jones, Completes "Educational Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game for Teaching Youth Finance" Project

SCIS is pleased to announce that our graduate student, Mr. David Jones, has completed his project. The project topic is "Educational Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game for Teaching Youth Finance",builds a virtual world - 'Pecunia', with OpenSim and altered Hippo Viewer's help to teach younger students how to better manage their personal finances. It simulates a real world where the player must make financial decisions for their avatars in an attempt to develop enough wealth to allow that avatars to retire at a specified age. Mr. Jones also evaluates the game via a pilot study. The results of the repeated measures test are promising, showing a definite increase in learning of financial topics by participants.We would love to invite you to join his oral presentation at 2:00 PM, April 2, 2012 (Mountain Time) at
