MScIS Students Take Top 3 in 3MT Competition

Three MScIS Students have been selected as the top three winners in the 3MT (3 Minute Thesis) competition at Athabasca University.
1st place: Mohammad Belghis-Zadeh
“Improving Recommender Systems for Learning through Web Mining to Discover Relevant Learning Objects from the Web” (Dr. Sabine Graf, supervisor)
2nd place: Bertrand Sodjahin
“Machine Learning Techniques to Unveil and Understand Pseudomonas aeruginosa Survival Mechanism in Nutrient Depleted Water” (Drs. Vive Kumar and Shauna Reckseidler-Zenteno, supervisors)
3rd place: Diane Mitchnik
“Using Student Data to Determine an Effective Diagnostic Model for ADHD” (Dr. Vive Kumar, supervisor)
As a result of this competition, the 1st place winner, Mohammad Belghis-Zadeh, will be representing Athabasca University at the Western Canada 3MT competition at the University of Saskatchewan on April 28, 2017.
