Bio: It feels like I live online, although I do actually live in Vancouver, BC Canada. I have a wonderful view of the harbour and the boats from my window, which is good because i spend a great deal of time in my home on the computer talking with people from the world.

I am one of the knowmads who work behind and in front of the knowplace family of sites. I have been a distance education administrator since I organized my first program (for seniors) at Capilano College, North Vancouver, BC Canada when I was a student there. I was quite an active student and very involved in student government. I represented students on the BC Comprehensive Community College Task Force. It lasted for a year and a half and recommended the creation of four new community colleges. These are known as: College of the Rockies, Northern Lights College, North West Community College and North Island College. Because of this early experience - I must confess that my heart lies in accessible, high quality education being offered in the local communities.

I obtained my masters degree From the University of British Columbia in the Administration of Universities, Colleges and Vocational schools in the mid-eighties. For fifteen years I worked for BC public and private colleges, and school boards in the field of continuing education. In 1995 I started working online and helped to create - http://WorkInfoNet.bc.ca This online learning community is still going strong. It has a very busy mailing list and many active subscribers. You are never lonely if you subscribe! I started teaching teachers how to teach online in 1999 and in 2001 we started our online international home away from home: Knowplace to offer courses in the teach and design , emoderation, ecareer coach and open source fields. We developed 49 courses and offer these through our partner Capilano College. We support other online learning communities through our server. I give apx. 20 presentations a year (online and face-to-face) about what we do at knowplace. Through knowplace we offer free and open weekend workshops that are available for anyone to take without committing themselves to a full course. We host the knowtips conference every February. We work with a variety of formal and information partnerships and enjoy our lives immensely. Enjoy your time with us!
