Konrad Morgan is the Dean of the School of Applied Media and Information Technology at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He is also the vice chair on the Board of Directors for the Charity `Computers for Schools? which has placed over 100,000 refurbished computers in Alberta schools and he serves as Alberta's representative on the `Deans of I.T.? group within the Canadian Association of Community Colleges.
Prior to his current appointment Konrad was the professor of Human Computer Interaction; Department chair for Information Science and Director of the InterMedia research centre on Digital Learning and New Media at the University of Bergen, Norway. He has also held leadership roles at major academic institutions in the UK, Middle East and South Pacific (within a UN educational aid project). Konrad completed his first doctorate in 1989 at Edinburgh University, Scotland and he was awarded his European full professor competence examination (minimum of 2 PhDs in depth of subject specialization, teaching excellence and leadership ability) by Bergen University in 2000.
His research interests have focused on understanding the human and social impact of information and communications technology (ICT). His scientific work includes a number of original contributions: The first empirical evaluations and explanations of why direct manipulation and graphical user interfaces are superior in usability terms; Some of the first explanations of gender differences and attitudes in ICT use; Revealing the role of personality types in computer based behavior and finally, the influence of early parental encouragement in later technology competence and attitudes.
